Adjusting by Feel: The Art of Safe and Powerful Yoga Assiste

This is an Immersion for yoga teachers - or practitioners or want to learn how to assist.

Learn how to skillfully adjust students while tuning into the most important elements of safety and efficiency.

In this 2-day Immersion, Jodi will teach you some of the most important and effective adjustments for yoga students. There will be discussion about the purpose of adjustments and how to make sure any assist you give is grounded, safe and effective. We will work on feeling our own bodies and synching up with partners to tap into our deeper intuition before laying our hands on a student. Jodi will teach you how to always give great adjustments by giving you a step by step process that will have your students feel supported.

We will also dive into the murky waters of boundaries and how to maintain an environment where all of your students feel safe and empowered to communicate what they want and need in class. We will look at how touch can heal and provide direction, but also look at when its not helpful and doesn’t feel good. Good teachers must explore the dark side of touch and boundaries in the classroom so that they can excel at the good stuff.

Jodi has been practicing ashtanga yoga for 24 years and refining her teaching and assisting techniques for almost as long. She will share her stories and experiences about learning adjustments and her personal evolution as a teacher/adjuster.

This is an important workshop for anyone teaching yoga. Jodi is a firm believer that when we choose to touch our students we have to do it with great consciousness and that we have a responsibility as teachers to make sure that we are clear in our intention and not transferring our unresolved energies onto our students.
